A New Room for Lola

12.11.18

Hi guys, it’s Holly! As you may know from our recent Instagram announcement, I am due to have my second baby in February, which means Lola is going to be a big sister! At the age of nearly 8, this is a pretty big deal for her – and us. In preparation for the new arrival, we felt it was important to get Lola settled into her new role as soon as possible, starting with a fresh and more functional new ‘big girl’ space as we start to transition our home to accommodate the new little person. We decided to move her to a new bedroom (across the hall from her old room) which offered more room for a larger desk area. In fact you might recognise the space, it’s our old bedroom! Read below how we have transformed the space into a sweet but sophisticated little room for our big girl, using lots of what we already had plus a few new pieces against a beautiful Farrow & Ball backdrop.

You’ll remember from our bedroom reveal that this room started off all colours of the rainbow, then swiftly received a good lathering of white paint across all surfaces. This satisfied us for the time being while we enjoyed a crisp, clean bedroom (this was back in 2015) while we renovated other areas of the house. For Lola’s new room, I wanted to give her a playful but more grown up and personal space to accommodate her creativity and meet her needs more than the old room did. A warm and inviting room, with a neutral base but certainly not bland. I have loved Farrow & Ball’s Tourbillon wallpaper for the longest time, and though I am not generally a ‘wallpaper person’, I found the perfect opportunity to use it when designing this new room. SURPRISE Wedding for Friends!

22.04.17

It brings me so much joy to share with you a project that kept me sufficiently occupied for much of last year. With the help of friends, family and more than 20 generous sponsors, I threw the ultimate festival wedding as a complete surprise for friends of mine! I know, you all think I’ve gone completely bonkers, and trust me, the thought crossed my mind several times over the last year. In an industry fuelled by the desire to have, acquire and want, I found a way to use my skills and network to simply give, in a selfless, pure and honest way. To people I felt were the most deserving.

On a beautiful late summer’s day, my friends Mimi and Yelke, were wed at the very charming De Lievelinge in Vuren, The Netherlands, in a festival style celebration. The wedding was a COMPLETE SURPRISE to both the bride and groom and was organised and funded in it’s entirety by a group of generous vendors, wedding professionals, friends and family. Theirs was a charming, low key, festival inspired celebration in which love and togetherness – along with food trucks and twinklight lights, wildflowers and Chantilly lace – were the main ingredients.

Project R | Little Girl’s Bedroom

21.02.18

Are you guys enjoying the Project R series? Today we are back with another room reveal, this time a sweet little girls’ space. Our client enlisted us to help her with her home at the end of 2016, with the goal of adding style, personality, function and a overall sense of cohesion to her newly renovated family home. We layered in a muted colour palette, lots of texture and cohesive accessories to bring this family home to life. We are so thrilled to see the whole house featured in the Dutch magazine vtwonen this month that we thought we’d give you guys the full treatment, sharing our sources along the way! We have shown you the living room, the play room and now the sweetest little girl’s room we think you’ll love.

Our client was deeply inspired by a very special room tour she had spotted here on the blog that you might recall – Lola’s bedroom. So much so, that for her own daughter we adopted many of the same ideas including half painted walls, soft linens, clever storage solutions and a sweet palette fit for a princess. It’s always such a compliment to know that our spaces inspire others and we were more than pleased for the same love to be applied to this room as it was in Lola’s. With the bed and a few heirloom pieces already in place, we layered in the softness to create a charming space that any little lady would love!  Get the full scoop
