Our Wedding Featured on Style Me Pretty

September 8th, 2014

I’m not planning on walking down the aisle again, so seeing our wedding featured on the pages of my all time favourite wedding blog Style Me Pretty comes not only as a huge and very exciting surprise, but also as the closure of one of the biggest, most intense, most beautiful chapters of our lives thus far. The news came while we were enjoying a long weekend in France {a mini honeymoon, courtesy of my brothers and sister in law as a wedding gift} and couldn’t have been better timing! Reason enough for us to have an extra special toast to a fabulous, emotion filled day and a beautiful start to a long, love-filled marriage.

Wedding Files Part V: Our Wedding Photographed on Film

June 10th, 2014

So I know I said I would split the wedding into four parts and officially closed the Wedding Files series last week, but then our film photographs arrived back from the lab, and I just couldn’t keep them to myself so guys, with much excitement I present to you part five! When our photographer Anouschka Rokebrand asked me if I’d like to her shoot our big day in film as well as digital, I was so excited because I adore film photographs for their raw, soft and light quality. So here they are folks, my favorite shots on film.

Wedding Files: Part IV – Love Shoot, Reception & Dinner

May 30th, 2014

This is it, guys! The last ever Wedding Files column that I will ever write! It feels strange as it’s the closure of a huge and all consuming chapter of my life, but it’s wonderful at the same time to have all of these memories to refer back to later on. So by now you have seen the venue and bridal prep, the tables and five gorgeous bridesmaids, and the pre wedding shoot followed by the ceremony. Today I am taking you through the post ceremony love shoot and snippets of our reception. To round the series off, I am also excited to share with you something very special and dear to my heart – our wedding video. Created by Ray Pluym Cinematography, it is a 7 minute peek into our day. Enjoy!

Wedding Files: Part III – Shoot & Ceremony

May 28th, 2014

Ready for Part III of the wedding? I did promise it to you on Monday but I have been spending some quality time with my best friend before she jetted back to Australia. So today I am taking you through our pre ceremony photo shoot and the ceremony itself. If you missed out on the last two parts to this little love story, get the scoop in Part I where I shared all of the images of me and the bridal party getting ready, and Part II where you’ll find gorgeous bridesmaids and perfectly laid tables. Our photographer Anouschka Rokebrand did such a fabulous job with the images that I couldn’t do it all justice with one blog post, so this next installment is part of a four-part series, which I hope you’re loving as much as me.

Wedding Files: Part II – Bridesmaids, Table Settings and a Very Personal Story

May 24th, 2014

Hello again! Back today as promised with Part II of the Wedding Files series. I promise I’ll be back to posting about inspiring interiors, styling and photography very soon but for now I’m so excited to share with you my special day. Did you enjoy Part I as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you? It’s so surreal that all of that magic happened (and boy did it all happen fast!) and now it feels like some sort of dream. Speaking of dreamy things, I have more stunning images to show you today, this time of my gorgeous bridesmaids, the table settings and a couple of shots taken right after getting ready in the space downstairs.

Wedding Files: Part I – Bridal Preparation

May 23rd, 2014

Hello, it’s been a while! Do you still remember me? You may have noticed over the last few weeks that there have been some problems with the blog loading up. For a moment there, there was actually no blog, because I was in the process of switching web hosting providers resulting in a slight interruption. Thankfully, I was much too preoccupied to worry about such things because, I was, you know…busy GETTING MARRIED!! As many of you know, Saturday, 10 May 2014 was the day my sweet D and I tied the knot. It has been an absolute whirlwind of a time, with family and friends having flown in from across the globe to celebrate with us (and sadly, back out again – all too soon). What a busy, intense but immensely fulfilling time it has been. From the excitement-filled arrivals of loved ones, to the sleep-deprivation-inducing wedding prep, to the BIG day and then on to the cleaning up, winding down and then relaxing last week. Phew! The day itself sped by at the speed of light. Thank heavens Anouschka Rokebrand and her husband and partner Ray were there to capture every last detail because holy moly, I sure missed a few things. And because I am so thrilled with the results, I have decided to divide my last ever Wedding Files posts into four parts and take you through the day in chronological order, starting with the bridal prep on the morning of the wedding. Feel like reliving my magical day with me? Well let’s get this party started! (Note: This may well be my longest blog post ever and it’s only the beginning! Oops…)

Wedding Files: Venue Dilemma + Special Arrivals

April 25th, 2014

Hi guys, back again to share some wedding news today as it’s been a while since I updated my Wedding Files column. Those close to us will already know that we faced a major hiccup in our wedding planning process this last few weeks. With just 8 weeks to go before our big day and all the plans put in place, our dream wedding venue fell through. It was the most spectacular old building just begging for a beautiful wedding to take place inside it, and I was just dying to share it with our guests who are traveling over from Australia and South Africa to celebrate with us but due to issues with the building (which is currently undergoing a massive refurbishment) the plans fell through.

Gutted doesn’t begin to describe how I felt when we had to go back to the drawing board in such a short space of time before the wedding, knowing that we have so many friends and family traveling so far to be there with us and to suddenly find ourselves having to change plans and find a whole new venue, re-do the invitations and start from scratch. After an incredibly stressful couple of weeks scouting new venue options, negotiating, rethinking the day, we finally secured a new venue and I am so pleased and massively relieved! I will share the venue details after the wedding {wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise for our guests} but what I will say is that it ties in very nicely with the concept we have been working with for our reception – a low-key, modern organic, local affair that reflects us as a couple. Now that the venue has been secured, we have managed to get out the invitations, a little too late for my liking but they are out nonetheless and our guests know where they will need and when (even though we sent out our Save the Dates months ago}.

Wedding Files: Inspiration for the Maids

February 13th, 2014

I am so grateful that my two sisters, two best friends and dear cousin will be joining me as I say my I Do’s. As the big day draws nearer and their flights have been booked, they are naturally looking for inspiration and  ideas for dresses, shoes and hair. Though I’ve been collecting inspiration on my Pinterest board for the last year, I decided to throw together a few moodboards for the girls to show them the kind of look and feel we are going for so that they can prepare a bit in advance. For those planning their own wedding and need a little inspiration in this particular department, I thought I’d share them for you to see too. So let’s get swept away by pretty stuff today!
