Boho Organic Styled Bridal Inspiration

May 19th, 2015

On a wet, icy day back in January, I teamed up with photographer Anouschka Rokebrand to style a boho bridal session where organic textures, a natural palette and classic, historical elements served as my inspiration. Thrilled as always to see my work featured, and this beauty made it onto the pages of the very beautiful Magnolia Rouge.

You might remember this orchard shoot we collaborated on together last fall? Well the moment we clapped eyes on our gorgeous model Lisa, we knew she’d be a lovely centrepiece to a bohemian inspired session that Anouschka had been dying to capture, and so this was born; a beautiful collection of images captured both digitally and on film.

Giveaway Anne Black – The Winner!

April 1st, 2015

I love a good giveaway, especially when I get to gift someone with a beautiful new piece for their home. Last week, I introduced you into Copenhagen based ceramacist Anne Black, taking you through her creative process and all that goes into her very beautiful range of ceramics. I own three of Anne Black’s ceramic and leather hanging planters and knowing you’d love them every bit as much as I do, I thought I’d get an extra one to give away.

I have two sizes in three different colours – small in white, medium in artichoke and medium in concrete. They are truly lovely – a very simple, minimalistic design in pretty muted colours. Birds by Emma von Brömssen

January 26th, 2015

I recently started following Swedish artist, textile, pattern, fabric and wallpaper designer Emma von Brömssen on Instagram and before I knew it I was on her website, in her shop, and delighting in her charming poster collection of birds made from leaves, berries and twigs.

Birds by Emma von Brömssen // Avenue Lifestyle I think these quirky little creatures are so sweet, and I love Emma’s product styling too. My favourites are the  little guy with the pink and green leaves and the peacock above!

Featured: Floral Inspired Bridal Shower

November 23rd, 2014

Hey guys! I hope you have enjoyed the weekend and are ready for a productive and inspiring week ahead! To kick start the week, I have another styled editorial to share with you. A few months back I teamed up with photographer Anouschka Rokebrand and food stylist Ajda Mehmet on something a little different, a styled a bridal shower inspiration session. I gathered together a handful of lovely ladies to model for us and brought together an event that was all about fun and flowers, using the prettiest of props and the freshest of florals. The results are every bit as lovely as I was hoping they would be, and seeing them feature on the pages of Style Me Pretty makes my heart sing.

Floral Inspired Bridal Shower Inspiration // Styling and creative direction: Holly Marder {Avenue Lifestyle} / Photography: Anouschka Rokebrand A little bit about this shoot: When Anouschka asked to create a bridal shower styled shoot, my first thoughts were that it had to be fun with a fresh and feminine theme fit for a group of gorgeous girls to enjoy together. It had to have a joyous feel to it because bridal showers are all about celebrating love and happiness, right? I decided early on that flowers would be the inspiration behind the shoot and as most showers come with an activity for the attendees to get involved in, that activity would be a floral wreath/headband making workshop. I wanted to create an event where the bride-to-be’s closest friends could gather together in celebration of the imminent nuptials by creating a fresh flower crown. To make it as ‘real’ as possible, I also coached the models on how to make a floral headband so they could be photographed actually making one and wearing it afterwards. Get the full scoop

Engaged Part II: A Simple, Elegant Table

October 29th, 2014

Yesterday I took you through the first of my styled tables for the Engaged wedding event, where I hosted three styling workshops over the course of the one day event. I’m excited to share with you the second table, slightly different but still resonating with the overall wintry theme of the event, Holly style! Natural, pared down with a touch of opulence, here’s the full scoop captured to perfection by Anouschka Rokebrand.

Engaged Part I: A Natural, Organic Table

October 28th, 2014

Hey guys! I’ve been a bit sporadic in my posts lately, and one of the reasons is I have even really busy prepping for an event called Engaged {you might recall reading about it in this post}, which took place over the weekend. Over the course of the day, I hosted three styling workshops for around 40 women {some brides-to-be, some wedding planners, some just there for fun!} all looking to learn how to beautify tables like a pro. I spent weeks gathering props from far and wide to give my attendees plenty of pretty to play around with and gosh, it was fun seeing it all come to life on the day! Naturally, I prepared a couple of example tables to inspire my attendees, but knew I’d be too busy on the day to worry about photographing them for you to see so I enlisted my good friend, the talented photographer Anouschka Rokebrand, to shoot the tables at the industrial venue the event was held {Lijm en Cultuur Delft, our wedding venue!} the day prior. That meant a whooole lotta running around, unpacking, repacking boxes of props props etc but I’m so pleased to be able to share the images she captured so beautifully with you guys. First up, a natural and organic table to perhaps inspire your next dinner party?

Photography Workshop: Anouschka Rokebrand

September 29th, 2014

Hey guys! I am excited to be working on a new styling project at the moment, which I thought I’d share with you today. I have been asked by photographer Anouschka Rokebrand to style her second photography workshop, which is happening next month, after the success of the first workshop I styled back in March. Like last time, I created a couple of moodboards highlighting the colour palette and a bunch of beautiful ideas as a starting point. Making moodboards is a great way to get ideas across and I use them in my work ALL of the time. They take some time to pull together but the results are always inspiring and they are integral in communicating colours, ideas and concepts. Here is a peek at what I am dreaming up this time around.
