A Foraged Wild Bouquet

This time of year in the Netherlands is so gorgeous, with wild flowers and grasses absolutely everywhere. This week I found inspiration in the wild blooms I keep seeing around me, and took some time out from work, hopped on the bike and went out to gather a wild bouquet. Sometimes you just need to get some fresh air and have a frolic ion the sunshine!

Right near our home there is a gorgeous forest and lake, which is where we had our family shoot recently with Hanke Arkenbout, and our engagement session with Anouschka Rokebrand. I just love the area we live. We have the charming historical town centre just minutes away by bike on the one side of our house, and just as close by we have the forest and lake on the other side. Surrounding the forest are fields and pathways which at this time of year are overgrown with tall, fluffy, dried grasses and wild flowers of all sorts.

Once home after a refreshing cycle, interspersed with a frolic, I began creating a loosely arranged, foraged bouquet from my pretty finds to perk up a nook in our living room. I began with the grasses, filling out the arrangement with foliage as I went along, and finished off by dotting a few floral stems here and there.

From wild daisies to grasses and green stems of all sorts, the results are lovely and have added a lovely dose of whimsical charm to our home.

It was such a treat playing about outside on a weekday, and brought such peace and calm  to what was already turning out to be a busy week. What do you do to relax and unwind? Do you ever go and pick wildflowers?

If you feel like hanging out with me this weekend getting stuck into fresh flowers and creating something beautiful, then come along and attend one of the workshops I’ll be giving at Fortfestijn lifestyle fair in Haarlem {near Amsterdam} on Sunday, 29 June. For all the details, click HERE.

Have a lovely day, and I’ll be back tomorrow with a full before and AFTER of our new and improved bedroom. Can hardly wait!

Heerlijk is het om bloemen te verzamelen die er gewoon zijn, die je ‘mag’ plukken. Een cadeau van de natuur! I love it too! 🙂
