Loft Living at its Best: The Delfin and Postigo Madrid Residence

05.08.13

Hello! I thought I’d kick off a new week with a tour of one of the hippest lofts I have seen yet, the Madrid home of fashion designer David Delfín and architect-turned-photographer Gorka Postigo. The space that these two creatives share is an eclectic melting pot blending retro design against a bright industrial backdrop, with breathtakingly high ceilings and tons of natural light. White painted wooden floors, walls, ceilings and beams douse the entire space in a Scandinavian look and feel, while clusters of art and framed photographs add a sense of modernity. The Spanish duo have done an incredible job at injecting their individual personalities into this space. It’s sexy and surprising. It’s truly individual, an expression of their art forms combined, and above all, very inspiring. Photographed by by Manolo Yllera for Yetzler, this tour is pure eye candy.

Though this space was actually photographed back in 2010, I still feel the style is relevant now. Classic design pieces have enjoyed a burst of popularity in recent times, and combined with both contemporary and industrial elements, this loft look is timeless and striking. My favourite area in this place is the corner with the little Danish writing desk. I adore the frames of different finishes and need that Charlotte Perriand leather chair. I also love how everything just jumps out against crisp white floors.

What’s your favourite part of this home? The high ceilings? Art? The heavy-duty industrial pendant lights? I’d love to know.

I had a rather busy last week, partly due to a few deadlines I needed to get out of the way, and partly due to the summer holidays that has my two-year-old at home all day every day for the next 6 weeks. Add the two together and well, basically nothing much has happened here in the last seven days besides Teletubbies and the odd deadline squeezed in between moments I wasn’t being summoned to assemble a Dora puzzle…

If my two-year-old allows me within a five mile radius of my desk, I’ll be back with more gorgeous interior spaces to adore very soon.

Have a wonderful week!

Holly
