Project H | The Kitchen

You’ve seen the bedroom, home office, living room and today we are excited to show you the Project H Kitchen. This space wasn’t a full redesign but rather a ‘restyle’ using the existing kitchen base and general layout and adding depth, texture and a few key pieces to result in a cohesive relationship to the rest of the room, which opens into the living spaces. Let’s jump straight in!

When we started this project in 2016 the bedroom and home office upstairs were the primary focus, and later the downstairs area became a priority. Our client wanted the same sense of calm and consistency we were able to deliver in the upstairs rooms, and when she returned to us for phase two of her home redesign with the request to finish off her living room and kitchen the brief was to use as much of the exiting elements as possible while layering in key pieces and texture, with the goal of marrying the spaces in terms of style.

In the downstairs area, we slowly replaced all the major furniture, installed new lighting, window dressings, art and accessories. The goal was a textured, clean living area that felt calm and serene. Detailed but understated. We worked with a base of oak floors and crisp white walls but warmed up the space by adding in rich contrasting wood tones, and various other natural elements.

In the kitchen, we installed a new dining table to work with her existing chairs, terracotta pendants with draping linen cords. Our client purchased that beautiful aboriginal art during a trip to Australia and it inspired much of the palette of this whole project.

The cabinet fronts were initially white MDF. To add contrast and movement we had them replaced with blackened oak fronts. They are beautifully matte and the grain gives it a subtle texture. We also added a matte mosaic tile backsplash and Artemide wall sconces, with custom black shades.

So that’s it for Project H! This was a slow and steady project and deeply rewarding. The client was awesome and decisive and the results are so fresh and livable.

I’d love to know: No that you’ve seen all the spaces, what is your favourite room in the house? And what is your favourite element in the kitchen?

Hope you enjoyed today’s tour! We are jetting off to Milan for a few days of inspiration and connecting. Back next week with another lovely kitchen tour!

Hi Holly! It’s me again 😀 I wrote to you a few minutes ago about looking for a dining table. I absolutely love the one you used in here. Wow! I didn’t think I’d find something I really love but I just did, thanks to you. Would you mind sharing with me where you sourced this dining table from? That would be splendid!

    Thanks a lot Holly!

    Best wishes,
