So I know I said I would split the wedding into four parts and officially closed the Wedding Files series last week, but then our film photographs arrived back from the lab, and I just couldn’t keep them to myself so guys, with much excitement I present to you part five! When our photographer Anouschka Rokebrand asked me if I’d like to her shoot our big day in film as well as digital, I was so excited because I adore film photographs for their raw, soft and light quality. So here they are folks, my favorite shots on film.
Well guys, aren’t they just so soft, beautiful and romantic? I always find it so interesting to compare digital to film images because either are so different but both beautiful in their own way. I personally love the grainy look of film images, which I feel give them a sense of nostalgia. I had a mother-daughter photo shoot recently with the equally talented photographer Hanke Arkenbout and I adored her film shots for this same nostalgic and romantic quality. The colors are also somehow so vivid, yet soft at the same time. I’m not experienced with photographing in film but I believe this has a lot to do with the fact that the film lens lets in a lot more light than the digital. Either way, both forms are stunning in their own way and I am thrilled to have both to look back on in the years to come.
Anouschka, you are a true artist behind the lens. Thank you for capturing our wedding in so many beautiful ways! If you missed it, you can also watch our wedding video here, created by Ray Pluym Cinematography.
